Twelve fe­male for­eign­ers were ar­rest­ed dur­ing a raid by po­lice and im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cers at a pop­u­lar Mara­bel­la ho­tel on Fri­day night. Five are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a San Fer­nan­do mag­is­trate to­mor­row, charged with il­le­gal en­try in­to the coun­try and tam­per­ing with their pass­ports.

The oth­er sev­en are to be de­port­ed, of­fi­cers said. Rang­ing be­tween 21 to 32 years old, the women are said to be from Suri­name, the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic and Colom­bia. The raid took place be­tween 9 pm and 1 am. In­volved in the ex­er­cise were of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain CID, In­ter Agency Task Force and of­fi­cers at­tached to the Im­mi­gra­tion De­part­ment in Port-of-Spain and San Fer­nan­do.

Clean un­der­wear stolen

A 54-year-old man wants po­lice to in­ves­ti­gate who stole his "clean" un­der­wear from his clothes line on Fri­day night. Jagdeo Har­riper­sad, of Acbar Trace, Siparia Old Road, told po­lice he washed his clothes and hung them on a clothes line to dry. But when he re­turned around 11.30 pm two white jock­ey shorts val­ued $30 each were miss­ing. PC Gokool is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
