Ja­mone Sher­wood and Nicole Lam­bie have been se­lect­ed by the T&T Karate Union as the sport's nom­i­nees for the 2009 Sports­man and Sports­woman of the year award. Jenelle Alexan­der, a young and promis­ing karate­ka, has been se­lect­ed for the Youth Award.

These karatekas will be de­fend­ing their ti­tles at the up­com­ing TTKU Na­tion­al Cham­pi­onships in March where they will com­pete against oth­er high­ly skilled tra­di­tion­al and free style karatekas.

All karate clubs and in­di­vid­ual black belts are wel­comed to reg­is­ter with the TTKU to be el­i­gi­ble to qual­i­fy for Na­tion­al Team se­lec­tion.
