Amerijet International recently celebrated 25 years of service to T&T with a small function at their facility at the Piarco International Airport which was attended by the Comptroller of Customs along with several of their regular customers and courier companies which use Amerijet for their shipments into and out of the country.
Several story-boards were on display which depicted a wide range of "interesting" shipments that the airline has done over the years, including the movement of the lions (Keith and Kamla) and the giraffes (Melman and Mandela) for the local Zoo; the historic first annual shipment of 24,000 laptop computers for the school children and many other commercial as well as charitable shipments in service to neighbouring communities ravaged by storms over the years.
In his welcome speech, company director Simon Pantin, highlighted the journey of the airline which had faced many obstacles over its 25 year history in T&T.
However, he praised the way the local authorities were eventually able to embrace the quality of service the airline provides and through consistent, quality service, Amerijet has grown to a daily freighter schedule and has been operating the first and only cargo hub for air freight in the South Caribbean for more than eight years.
Nirad Tewarie, CEO of Amcham T&T thanked Amerijet for their long partnership with the business group and spoke about the need for increased investment to develop trade.
The company used the opportunity to celebrate its employees, and several staff members with tenures ranging from five to 20 years of dedicated service, received awards to commemorate their achievements.
Amerijet International is an all-cargo air carrier, operating Boeing 767 and Boeing 727 aircraft from its primary hub at Miami International Airport to destinations throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and South America.
