De­tour Shak At­tack suc­cumbed to its sec­ond loss of the North Zone Bas­ket­ball Com­mis­sion (NZBC) First Di­vi­sion League cam­paign, when De­fence Force record­ed an 89-84 vic­to­ry, at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Wright­son Road, on Sun­day night.

Af­ter hold­ing an even more con­vinc­ing 42-23 lead at half-time, the reign­ing Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League cham­pi­ons De­fence Force slowed to al­low Shak At­tack back in­to the match, but in the end held on to take yet an­oth­er win in what may be an­oth­er in­spired cam­paign. The army/coast­guard com­bi­na­tion was led by point-guard Der­rick Box­ill, who sank 23 points, while cen­tre Keivan Bac­quain fol­lowed up with ten points.

Shak At­tack's na­tion­al shoot­ing guard Kurt "Co­to" Chris­t­ian was the team's lead­ing scor­er with 17 points, with for­ward Andy Best tak­ing 16. De­fence Force al­so won its Men's Sec­ond Di­vi­sion fix­ture on the day with a com­fort­able 66-55 vic­to­ry over To­geth­er­ness. An­ton Noel and Mark Roberts com­bined with 36 points for the win­ners. On Sat­ur­day, Cale­do­nia Clip­pers, which dropped Shak At­tack to its first loss of the cam­paign, last Tues­day 75-73, shunned San Juan War­riors 80-72 at the same venue. For­ward Ak­il Payn­ter net­ted 21 points, fol­lowed by Dex­ter Mor­rain, who fin­ished on 14 points. War­riors was led by Shorn Solomon with 16 points.
