Homicide detectives were up to late yesterday continuing their probe into the killing of Chinese proprietor Anthony Chin.The 61-year-old businessman, who owned China Palace Restaurant at Ellerslie Plaza, St Clair, and lived at Hillsborough, Maraval, was shot dead on Sunday outside his business place.Chin's son and daughter, who arrived from abroad after his murder, spent several hours at the Forensic Science Centre yesterday, awaiting the autopsy results.The family members, who refused to be interviewed, drove away from the centre in a green BMW.
Police said they were working on several leads.Chin had been questioned in connection with the kidnapping of Chinese restaurant owner Xue Hua Shan.Shan, 31, was reported abducted outside her Seventh Street, Barataria, home on April 14. A $4 million ransom has been demanded for her safe release.Shan is the owner of Happy Gardens Restaurant on St Helena Main Road.Business acquaintances told police that Chin owed a large gambling debt of $2 million and was paying back a loan of $30,000 a month.
