Let's go…
Ah here to tell all yuh a story,
Well that is if all yuh not in a hurry,
Ah will try meh best to use rhyme and allegory,
But first let meh tell all yuh where I will be,
I’ll be here in the Kids Section at Guardian Media.
From 29th January to the 21st February.
If yuh want to know more yuh have to follow me.
Most people say I from the country, when they refer to Grande.
Yuh parents would know the rhyme “Mary, Mary”, quiet contrary.
Yes, boys and girls I’m the girl from Sangre Grande, Mary Cuffy.
Teacher, author and not forgetting ah curriculum facilitator.
Now yuh have to check yuh newspapers,
If yuh want to know about traditional Carnival characters,
We starting with a fellow call Mr Pierrot.
What is ah Pierrot Grenade you may want to know?
He is a strange kind ah fellow If I may say so,
He uses rhyme and allegory to tell his story,
Have you ever heard about the man named Felix Edinborough?
Well he is a jolly kind ah fellow, more so, he is the veteran Pierrot.
There is more about this fellow,” spelling is his favourite game, but he does not spell words letter for letter, oh no!”
His method is a thousand times better, you see every word for he is a story, he is the boss of allegory.
Boys and girls, how about writing a short story or paragraph using allegory? If you want to know more about allegory, you will have to find a dictionary. When you find the meaning of allegory I’m sure you will feel so merry. But to help you, here is what I’ll do, I’ll give you a hint or two. Just remember an allegory is a story, if you want to know more you really have to pick up your dictionary. Boys and girls, I’m just reminding you the Pierrot’s method is a thousand times better.
