Telecommunications services provider Flow is set to provide fibre internet service to Parlatuvier, Bloody Bay and L’Anse Formi in Tobago.
In a press release, the company announced the rollout of the service, which will fall under the Universal Services Fund (USF), administered by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT).
“Our teams have been here, working on the ground to get your areas ready for connectivity. To date, we have hundreds of homes and businesses ready for connection. Our technical plans will see us deploying of over 45km of fibre,” said Flow’s Director Technical Operations, Robindranath Maharaj at the Project’s Sensitization Launch on August 16 at the Parlatuvier Community/Multi-purpose Centre.
Maharaj said the service can be expanded to further areas in the near future, including Scarborough, areas along Northside Road and Castara.
Flow explained customers will be able to access competitively priced commercial packages with special packages being offered to vulnerable groups through Flow’s CSR initiatives.
Maharaj said, “In addition to the connectivity, we envision expanding our partnerships with community organisations to provide local digital literacy training and other adoption support to bridge the digital divide for eligible families and communities. This will be achieved though the JUMP Programme, a CWC initiative, which aligns well with TATT, making for a strong partner in this.”
Also attending and speaking at the launch were Minister of Digital Transformation Hassel Bacchus, Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, Gilbert Peterson SC, Chairman, Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) and Cynthia Reddock Downes, Chief Executive Officer, TATT.
