Imagine lying on a bed for ten minutes and getting rid of your aches and pains? Doesn't that just sound like a “get out of here”, type of situation? We also thought the same at the first sound of it, until the Sunday Guardian team visited Parc Diagnostics (PD) in Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain, and was allowed to experience the BEMER (pronounced beamer) microcirculation therapy. Pretty soon, towards the end, there were very few 'monkey faces' left.
The BEMER, which is the acronym for bio electromagnetic energy regulation, is the combined creation of Switzerland and German alternative health experts. As explained by PD CEO and director Richard Charles, for the first time, the technology is being introduced to T&T through PD.
Very much like the comfort of your Sealy Posturepedic, with the only difference being the built-in magnetic coils, all you do is lie there, relax and allow this magnetic bed when switched on, to transmit electro-magnetic frequencies throughout the body, promoting oxygenated blood flow which is supposed to relieve a menu of health conditions including asthma, arthritis, poor circulation, and back pain to name a few. Charles has even claimed some of his clients who are cancer patients have found that after using microcirculation therapy, they have experienced fewer negative side effects following chemotherapy sessions.
It's not dangerous and there are no side effects, Charles explained. He said microcirculation therapy, which has been and is still used in North America, Europe, and even in parts of West Africa, actually helps to activate the body's natural healing abilities. Experts add, it's so safe, even children could receive the treatment. In fact, it emits a pulse, which is actually just below that of the earth's own magnetic field.
“The BEMER therapy stimulates blood circulation in the smaller blood vessels and improves the supply and disposal of toxins produced by human organs and tissues,” Charles elaborates.
Research by international medical experts who have used the BEMER therapy on patients, reveals the core technology behind this therapy is a multidimensional signal structure, which effectively stimulates the limited or defective microcirculation. Therefore it supports the most important regulatory mechanisms of the human body, the procedures for prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and regeneration.
It's only been six weeks since the treatment has been made available in T&T, yet Charles boasted that there is a lengthy list of users who have all found the treatment to work in their favour. During our visit last Friday, we ran into former national cyclist Michael Phillips who was there for another diagnostic assessment offered by PD but had also previously used the BEMER therapy. He described it as 'convenient' and definitely 'something' he would use again.
Other testimonies came from 47-year-old Sandy Neemar and 63-year-old Garth Eligon. Neemar who was experiencing joint pain and an overall unwell feeling told the Sunday Guardian that after her sixth session of the therapy, she no longer had the pain and felt much healthier.
After a back injury, Eligon visited PD and was placed on the BEMER for a week, together with supplements also provided by PD. Today, he said he was pain-free and never experienced any side effects following the therapy.
But what gives Charles the expertise to treat his clients? After all, his background began in the finance sector. He said he was being bogged down by asthma for years and haunted by the death of his grandmother who died in her 50s of a heart attack, a health threat which he disclosed is prevalent in his family. This, he said, quickened him to switch his focus to health and wellness. When he migrated to Florida years ago, he joined Rexall Sundown Vitamins, the leader in the dietary supplement industry at the time. It was there he began to understand how supplements work and how the human body responded to them.
He subsequently became affiliated with the international alternative health brand, Parc Wellness Centers, and returned to T&T 20 years ago as a distributor for the company, first selling its trademark supplement—Alkoxyrol—an immune builder made of shark liver oil. Today, the company carries a wide range of organic health supplements from detoxifiers and cleansers to male enhancers.
PD, a service of Parc Wellness Centers, prides itself on alternative methods of non-invasive diagnosing of diseases that show trends before clinical symptoms develop, as well as its alternative methods of fighting diseases, by making lifestyle changes and using natural methods that nature has provided.
The Sunday Guardian got a first-hand experience of this non-invasive approach with the Parc EMD (Electrometry Measurement Diagnostic), whole body scan, which saw inside the body and showed what was wrong and what could go wrong. The method was simple and painless; a device was used on the meridian points of the wrist and ankles to give the diagnosis.
We also tried the Parc Cardio, a two-minute screening of the heart using an unconventional ECG device that creates a 3D image, which allows for immediate evaluation. Needless to say, the Sunday Guardian team had 'sweet hearts.'
What's important to note, these two screenings are below $500. Charles also describes the BEMER therapy as 'affordable,' however that treatment takes a more tailored approach based on the client's condition, therefore depending on the number of sessions required, the cost could vary.
Charles explained that a popular belief held by many is 'I rather not know than know,' and by the time they find out, it's too late, which is the worst possible choice when it comes to one's health. He said in many instances development of chronic diseases could be avoided by early detection and healthier lifestyle choices.
“It's time to stop playing Russian roulette with your health and take charge of it today,” he advises.
