Some $600,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs at the Na­tion­al Tas­sara­ma Grand Fi­nals on Au­gust 26.

De­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, Char­lie Boys Tas­sa Band, will come up against 16 bands from across T&T.

Pres­i­dent and founder of the Tas­sa As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T (TATT), Dr Vi­jay Ram­lal Rai, said the show is free to the pub­lic and will come off at the Mid Cen­tre Mall, Ch­agua­nas.

Ram­lal Rai said, “On­ly the Best Tas­sa bands are in the fi­nals. This is the first time the fi­nals will take place at Mid Cen­tre Mall which is a large, safe and com­fort­able area.

“This is al­so the tough­est tas­sa com­pe­ti­tion in the world. Tas­sara­ma is to Tas­sa in­stru­ments equiv­a­lent to what Panora­ma is for steel­pan and the Na­tion­al Tas­sara­ma com­pe­ti­tion is recog­nised as the of­fi­cial na­tion­al com­pe­ti­tion by gov­ern­ments past and present as the main event for the Tas­sa in­stru­ments.”
