A 35-year-old man from Blake Av­enue Ex­ten­sion, Damarie Hill, San­gre Grande, was robbed of $9,000 in cash on Mon­day, af­ter re­spond­ing to an on­line car sale ad­ver­tise­ment. 

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at 1 pm on Do­ra­ta Street, East­ern Main Road, near Pan Land Ltd.

Po­lice said the man was com­mu­ni­cat­ing with the sell­er when he was ap­proached by two sus­pects. One of the sus­pects de­mand­ed the cash and a strug­gle en­sued. The sec­ond sus­pect then pulled out a firearm and point­ed it at the vic­tim, who threw $9,000 in cash on the ground.

When one of the sus­pects at­tempt­ed to pick up the mon­ey, the vic­tim tried to stop him but heard a loud ex­plo­sion and ran to the safe­ty of Pan Land Ltd. The sus­pects al­so fled with the cash.

The vic­tim, who sus­tained mi­nor in­juries dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, sought med­ical treat­ment at the St Joseph Health Cen­tre. Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the in­ci­dent.

Cara­pichaima man in­jured dur­ing botched rob­bery

A 24-year-old res­i­dent of Bank Vil­lage, Cara­pichaima, was in­jured dur­ing an at­tempt­ed rob­bery on Tues­day. 

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at 1 am along Sinaswee Street, Freeport, where the man was play­ing cards with neigh­bours.

Po­lice said a green sedan en­tered the street and three in­di­vid­u­als came out of the car and be­gan to rob the res­i­dents.

The vic­tim at­tempt­ed to fight off the ban­dits but was shot in the right hand.

The sus­pects left with­out tak­ing any­thing. The vic­tim was tak­en to the Cou­va Health Fa­cil­i­ty, where he re­ceived med­ical at­ten­tion and is in sta­ble con­di­tion. 

In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mat­ter are on­go­ing.
