A 40 -year- old Arima man was shot dead on Wednesday in Arima.
The victim was identified as Ryan Pitt.
Police said he left his home around 5:30 pm to purchase doubles when while driving his panel van along La Retreat Road, Heights of Guanapo, Arima, a white Nissan AD Wagon blocked the van. Two men came out of the wagon and opened fire on Pitt’s vehicle.
Members of the Northern Division Task Force East was called to the scene by passers-by, however, Pitt was already dead.
Pitt's murder brought the murder count to 450.
Farmer shot protecting wife
A 57-year-old farmer, who was confronted by bandits while in his garden in Wallerfield was shot and wounded when he attempted to save his wife.
According to a police report, around noon on Tuesday, the farmer was at his garden off Mexico Road when he was confronted by three armed masked men who announced a hold-up.
The men attempted to take the farmer into his home, but while on the way there he allegedly called out to his wife and told her to run for safety.
The men began to assault the farmer, who managed to escape from their grip and attempted to run away but was shot in his left leg.
As the farmer collapsed on the ground police said the three bandits ran away.
The police were notified and a team of officers led by Sgt Ammon responded.
The farmer was taken to the Arima Hospital where he was treated.
