A San­gre Grande mag­is­trate has al­lowed two po­lice of­fi­cers ac­cused of sex of­fences against a 16-year-old girl to con­tin­ue on sta­tion bail un­til their next court ap­pear­ance.

In­spec­tor Christo­pher Fuentes, 55 and Cpl Din­di­al Joseph, 45, were both charged with sex­u­al of­fences against the teenag­er fol­low­ing in­struc­tions from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion Roger Gas­pard on Wednes­day night. Both of­fi­cers were grant­ed po­lice sta­tion bail by a Jus­tice of the Peace at San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion that same night.

Fuentes, who was last at­tached to Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau, Re­gion II, who was charged with three counts of sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion, ab­duc­tion of a child and false im­pris­on­ment, was grant­ed $500,000 bail.

Joseph, who was last sta­tioned at North­ern Di­vi­sion, was charged with sex­u­al touch­ing and was grant­ed $80,000 bail.

Both po­lice of­fi­cers ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Bramb­hanan Dubay in the San­gre Grande First Mag­is­trate Court on Thurs­day.

Both men were not called up­on to plead as the charges were laid in­dictably.

Fuentes was rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­ney Ian Brooks and Joseph by Jer­ry Hold­er.

Dubay did not make any changes to their sta­tion bail there were grant­ed. The mat­ter was ad­journed to Sep­tem­ber 11.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, three sus­pects were ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing a lime at a po­lice of­fi­cer's San­gre Grande home, af­ter the home­own­er re­port­ed that his gun and oth­er im­por­tant doc­u­ments miss­ing.

An in­ten­sive in­ves­ti­ga­tion by In­sp Ju­ri, head of CID San­gre Grande, led to the ar­rest of a 16-year-old fe­male sus­pect and a 30-year-old male sus­pect. The gun was re­cov­ered but not the po­lice ID card.

How­ev­er, the 16-year-old com­plained to in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers that she was sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed. The mat­ter was hand­ed over to San­gre Grande Child Pro­tec­tion Unit, where In­sp Bap­tiste, PC Lock­et and oth­er of­fi­cers con­tin­ued the in­ves­ti­ga­tion and sub­mit­ted a file to the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion. Chares were laid against two sus­pects while one walked free at the end of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
