Police officers shot and killed one suspect, wounded another, and arrested a third after an attempted robbery of a water delivery truck on Aranguez Main Road yesterday.
Police said around 1 pm the drama began after delivery men from Blue Waters parked the truck along the main road.
Two men, one armed, jumped into the truck, attempting to rob them. The driver and the delivery man began to struggle with the two suspects. Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force who were patrolling nearby heard the commotion and ran to the scene.
One officer saw the suspects running south along Aranguez Main Road and called on them to stop. However, one of them opened fire on the officer who shot back.
More officers in a marked police vehicle also responded.
Police said a silver AD wagon pulled up alongside the suspects as they were running away and they got inside.
However, police officers continued pursuing the suspects and managed to intercept the vehicle they were in. There was an exchange of gunfire between the officers and one of the suspects, resulting in one of the suspects being fatally shot by police.
The other two suspects exited the vehicle and fled. However, their escape was short-lived, as they were eventually captured. One of them was shot and injured.
The dead suspect is yet to be identified.
Investigations are continuing.
