The ambulatory COVID-19 patients at the step-down facility located at the University of the West Indies’ Debe Campus were moved via ambulance yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Health, the move was done to facilitate the university’s scheduled maintenance activity “to ensure the continued functioning of both facilities.”
Seven of the patients housed at the step-down facility were transferred to the Caura Hospital while one went to the Couva Hospital and Multi Training Facility.
The ministry said 13 repatriated nationals will be transferred to UWI St. Augustine’s Canada Hall tomorrow.
The ministry reiterated: “There is no emergency evacuation exercise at the University of the West Indies Debe campus.”
