The am­bu­la­to­ry COVID-19 pa­tients at the step-down fa­cil­i­ty lo­cat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies’ Debe Cam­pus were moved via am­bu­lance yes­ter­day.

 Ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Health, the move was done to fa­cil­i­tate the uni­ver­si­ty’s sched­uled main­te­nance ac­tiv­i­ty “to en­sure the con­tin­ued func­tion­ing of both fa­cil­i­ties.”
Sev­en of the pa­tients housed at the step-down fa­cil­i­ty were trans­ferred to the Cau­ra Hos­pi­tal while one went to the Cou­va Hos­pi­tal and Mul­ti Train­ing Fa­cil­i­ty.

The min­istry said 13 repa­tri­at­ed na­tion­als will be trans­ferred to UWI St. Au­gus­tine’s Cana­da Hall to­mor­row.

The min­istry re­it­er­at­ed: “There is no emer­gency evac­u­a­tion ex­er­cise at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies Debe cam­pus.”
