A lime among a group of young men turned fa­tal af­ter an 18-year-old teenag­er was shot af­ter he and his friends were robbed by three men out­side the Movi­eTowne Com­plex, In­vaders Bay, on Sat­ur­day night. The in­ci­dent oc­curred in the full view of pa­trons who were so­cial­is­ing at the pop­u­lar Movi­eTowne's Greens which is lo­cat­ed be­tween the Cine­plex and Mar­riott Ho­tel. Sev­er­al peo­ple, in­clud­ing moth­ers with ba­bies in their arms, had to scam­per for safe­ty as gun­shots rang out. Lawrence Lendon Tay­lor died at the scene of the in­ci­dent af­ter he was shot mul­ti­ple times by a gun­man af­ter he voiced his dis­sat­is­fac­tion as he and his friends were be­ing robbed.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 9.45 pm, po­lice said. Out­side Tay­lor's Baird Street, Care­nage, home, yes­ter­day, neigh­bours and friends de­scribed him as a "cool tess." Many ex­pressed shock over the in­ci­dent, say­ing the "youth­man" will be missed by all who knew him.

A R.I.P Face­book group was cre­at­ed hours af­ter the killing. Tay­lor, al­so known as "Pret­ty Boy" was a past stu­dent of Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary School. He re­ceived a fa­tal shot to the head by his at­tack­er. Po­lice said Tay­lor was in the com­pa­ny of two oth­er teenagers when three men ap­proached and be­gan to heck­le the boys.

The sus­pects, one armed with a gun, or­dered the teens to hand over their jew­el­ry. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the boys were re­lieved of three gold chains to­geth­er val­ued $22,000. Tay­lor was re­lieved of a sil­ver chain. As Tay­lor ex­pressed his dis­plea­sure over the rob­bery, he was shot. He ran a short dis­tance to­wards the car park but col­lapsed on a bridge over a pond. The armed sus­pect walked up to Tay­lor and shot him once in the head be­fore he and his oth­er ac­com­plices quick­ly made their es­cape in a wait­ing ve­hi­cle. One of Tay­lor's friends al­so sus­tained a gun­shot wound to the leg, of­fi­cers said.

A re­port was made for the po­lice and of­fi­cers from the West­ern Di­vi­sion's joint army and po­lice pa­trol rushed to the scene and went in search of the sus­pects who could not be found. At the time of the shoot­ing, a neigh­bour said, Tay­lor's sis­ter Dar­cel was hav­ing din­ner in­side Movi­eTowne when she got a tele­phone call about the in­ci­dent.

On June 4, 2003, casi­no su­per­vi­sor Jil­la Bowen was shot dead at Movi­eTowne, and two men wound­ed. Brent Miller was charged with that mur­der, but the charge was with­drawn. No one was ever charged and/or con­vict­ed for that killing.
