Police said Leslie Junior Roberts and the relative were asleep at their Melchizedek Drive, Blake Avenue, home, at around 2.40 am when they awoke after hearing the sound of their front door being broken down.
A gunman stormed the house, while another remained watch outside.
One of the gunmen shot at Roberts’ relative, grazing her back.
Roberts reportedly begged his attacker, who shot him in his head, killing him.
The relative hid in a toilet, as the gunmen left.
Officers of the Eastern Division Task Force were called in and found the wounded woman.
Officers of the Eastern Division Crime Scene Investigation Unit and a district medical officer visited the scene who declared Roberts dead.
Investigators found a 12 gauge cartridge of ammunition at the scene.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
