A police officer assigned to the Western Division’s Traffic Enforcement Unit died following a vehicular accident he was in after midnight on Thursday. The officer was identified as No. 8336 PC Arneaud.
According to a police report, at about 12:55 am on Friday officers of the West End police station heard a loud bang. They rushed out the station to check and saw a white Mazda 3 registration number PDK 1278 crashed into the traffic light at the intersection of the Wendy Fitzwilliams Blvd and the Diego Martin Main Road.
The car upon impact knocked out an electrical pole causing cables to be thrown across the road barring all thoroughfare. PC Perry and PC Blades took the driver, PC Arneaud to the St James medical facility, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A party of police officers from the Western Division’s crime scene investigations visited and processed the scene. Cpl John of the West End police is continuing enquiries.
