A po­lice of­fi­cer as­signed to the West­ern Di­vi­sion’s Traf­fic En­force­ment Unit died fol­low­ing a ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent he was in af­ter mid­night on Thurs­day. The of­fi­cer was iden­ti­fied as No. 8336 PC Arneaud.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 12:55 am on Fri­day of­fi­cers of the West End po­lice sta­tion heard a loud bang. They rushed out the sta­tion to check and saw a white Maz­da 3 reg­is­tra­tion num­ber PDK 1278 crashed in­to the traf­fic light at the in­ter­sec­tion of the Wendy Fitzwilliams Blvd and the Diego Mar­tin Main Road.

The car up­on im­pact knocked out an elec­tri­cal pole caus­ing ca­bles to be thrown across the road bar­ring all thor­ough­fare. PC Per­ry and PC Blades took the dri­ver, PC Arneaud to the St James med­ical fa­cil­i­ty, how­ev­er, he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

A par­ty of po­lice of­fi­cers from the West­ern Di­vi­sion’s crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tions vis­it­ed and processed the scene. Cpl John of the West End po­lice is con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
