In an effort to do their part during World Kindness Day yesterday, the non-profit organisation, Ross ReThink distributed hundreds of free meals such as doubles, bake and shark, coffee and chocolates. at their headquarters on Gray Street, Port-of-Spain.
From as early as 5.30 am, scores of people lined the streets to sample the fare and the flow of people continued until close to 11 am.
The manager of the organisation, Chester Parris, spoke on the importance of being kind to one another and the mission Rethink was trying to accomplish.
“Each person received something and received it in a different way and that’s what we are all about.
“We are trying to touch people and the widest spectrum of people with a simple message that could have a ripple effect,” he explained.
Parris said the organisation wanted to set an example for others to follow and motivate citizens to love themselves and to give back to society.
“We as individuals must first be kind to ourselves, and realise the value we have, to give to others in simple ways.
“We are here to encourage Trinidad and Tobago to share kindness,” he said.
This is the fourth year that the organisation has conducted the initiative.
World Kindness Day, which is celebrated on November 13 every year, was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, to serve as a reminder of the positive impact that kindness can have and to encourage citizens to perform intentional acts of compassion.
