SEWA International Trinidad & Tobago (SEWA TT) has handed over 9,000 KN95 masks to the Ministry of Education’s Adopt-A-School initiative.
Minster of Education, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, received the masks from SEWA TT’s President, Revan Teelucksingh, during a simple ceremony held at the Education Towers, Port of Spain, on Thursday 17th February 2022.
“As we take steps to get our students back into schools for face-to-face classes, the wearing of masks becomes essential for their continued health and safety,” Minister Gadsby-Dolly said.
She added: “The Ministry of Education is always pleased when organisations come on board to contribute in such a meaningful way. We are very happy for this generous contribution today, and we look forward to partnering with SEWA International TT in future education related initiatives.”
Back in October 2021, SEWA TT pledged to donate 1,000 KN95 masks to every secondary school in Trinidad and Tobago. SEWA TT says these masks will be used in the schools as the principal and staff see fit. Thus far, the Organisation has distributed masks to 123 of the 135 secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago.
