A sub-machine gun was among two firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized by officers during ongoing anti- crime exercises in the North Eastern and Northern Divisions overnight.
The TTPS said in the first exercise, officers of the North Eastern Division Gang and Intelligence Unit, Barataria Criminal Investigations Department and Canine Branch proceeded to the Morvant district between 4 pm and 7 pm, on Tuesday 12th September, 2023. During the exercise, a bushy area was searched which resulted in one sub-machine gun loaded with a magazine containing eleven rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana being discovered.
Meanwhile in the Northern Division, officers of the Arima Police Station conducted an exercise between 7 pm and 10 pm, yesterday, during which officers arrested a 26-year-old man of Sherwood Park. He was reportedly found to be in possession of one firearm loaded with a magazine containing eleven rounds of ammunition. And, in the Eastern Division, officers arrested a 20-year-old Sangre Grande man in connection with a report of Wounding which occurred on Friday 8th September, 2023.
The suspect is expected to face charges of Wounding with Intent, Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Firearm to Endanger Life, Possession of Ammunition to Endanger Life and Discharging a Firearm within 40 meters of a roadway. Investigations are ongoing into all the matters.
