Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher says God continues to play a major role in the work of the police and is optimistic that with his assistance progress would be made.
Harewood-Christopher made the remarks during her address at the TTPS interfaith service at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, George Street, Port of Spain, on Sunday.
In March, 2023, Harewood-Christopher prompted mixed responses during her address at the Greater Chaguanas Chamber of Commerce meeting where she called for divine intervention to assist in crime-fighting initiatives.
“The police could come up with whatever strategy, but unless we enlist the help of God, we will be working in vain.”
In her brief address on Sunday Harewood-Christopher again called for God’s assistance in quelling the violence in TT.
“We know with God’s grace and with his help, we will succeed.
The tides will turn and we will see the success we desire.”
In her two minute long address, Harewood-Christopher also thanked Father David Khan for his suggestion of faith-based organisations partnering with intelligence institutions.
