Two men were ar­rest­ed for be­ing in pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in Orop­une Gar­dens, Pi­ar­co, on Wednes­day 11th No­vem­ber 2020.

An of­fi­cial state­ment from the Po­lice Ser­vice re­ports that of­fi­cers ob­tained in­for­ma­tion that led them to 4th Av­enue in Orop­une Gar­dens, Pi­ar­co, at about 5:55 pm yes­ter­day.  At that lo­ca­tion, they in­ter­cept­ed a white Nis­san Sen­tra B15 ve­hi­cle.

Po­lice searched the ve­hi­cle and found and seized one Glock 17 pis­tol fit­ted with an au­to­mat­ic fire se­lec­tor, along with one mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 12 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion.

The ve­hi­cle’s dri­ver and the front seat pas­sen­ger were both ar­rest­ed and con­veyed to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion, along with the ve­hi­cle.

Search­es were al­so car­ried out at the homes of both sus­pects; how­ev­er, noth­ing il­le­gal was found.

The ex­er­cise was su­per­vised by Ag Cpl Bed­dasie along with a par­ty of of­fi­cers from the Area Cen­tral Task Force of the North­ern Di­vi­sion.
