There was one new COVID-19 death reported in Tobago last week—that of an unvaccinated person. It is the first reported COVID-19-related death in three weeks.
According to the latest weekly update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), covering the period Sunday 6 to Saturday 12 November 2022, the island’s death toll from the disease is now 287, as at Saturday, November 12.
Prior to last week, the most recently recorded COVID-19-related death was during the week of October 9 to 15, 2022. The deceased then also was an unvaccinated person.
The THA Health Division report notes eight more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections was 15, as at Saturday, November 12. This represents a significant drop from the previous week (October 30 to November 5, 2022), at which time there were 42 active cases.
In addition, the Health Division confirms there are no patients hospitalised for COVID-19, as of November 12.
The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as 34 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period November 6-12, 2022.
A total of 10,956 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,922 the previous week.
