The Uni­ver­si­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go (UTT) has ap­point­ed Pro­fes­sors Raf­fie Ho­sein and An­drew Jupiter as Ho­n­ourary Pro­fes­sors in Teach­ing and Re­search with­in its En­er­gy Sys­tems En­gi­neer­ing Unit. Their three-year tenure, start­ing on Sep­tem­ber 1, 2024, will sup­port the uni­ver­si­ty’s en­er­gy pro­gramme. This was dis­closed in a me­dia re­lease is­sued by UTT on Mon­day.

Pro­fes­sor Raf­fie Ho­sein, a pe­tro­le­um en­gi­neer, has worked in both acad­e­mia and in­dus­try. He has held roles such as Pe­tro­le­um En­gi­neer with Trinidad and To­ba­go’s Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries and Se­nior As­so­ciate Pro­fes­sor at Texas A&M Uni­ver­si­ty in Do­ha.

Pro­fes­sor An­drew Jupiter, a leader in Trinidad and To­ba­go’s en­er­gy sec­tor, has held the po­si­tion of Pres­i­dent of the So­ci­ety of Pe­tro­le­um En­gi­neers (T&T). His work has in­flu­enced na­tion­al en­er­gy de­vel­op­ment and pol­i­cy.

UTT has al­so award­ed the ti­tle of ‘Emer­i­tus’ to Pro­fes­sor Win­ston H.E. Suite, a civ­il en­gi­neer­ing and con­struc­tion ex­pert. Pro­fes­sor Suite has served on ma­jor na­tion­al boards, in­clud­ing NID­CO.
