The 62-year-old ven­dor who was shot in the leg dur­ing a brazen shoot­ing in Port-of-Spain on Ju­ly 29 has died.

Ann Marie Fred­er­ick, who sold goods be­tween Queen Janelle Com­mis­siong and George Streets for more than 40 years, was caught in the day­light (3.45 pm) cross­fire that left Shakiri Hen­ry, of low­er Nel­son Street, and three oth­ers (in­clud­ing her) in­jured.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that Fred­er­ick, a di­a­bet­ic, spent weeks in the hos­pi­tal and was re­cent­ly dis­charged.

But on Tues­day evening, she start­ed hav­ing prob­lems breath­ing and was rushed to hos­pi­tal, where she lat­er died.

Her daugh­ter, Oni­ka Fred­er­ick, said doc­tors be­lieve her death could be due to com­pli­ca­tions from the gun­shot wound.

The brazen shoot­ing was one of two to oc­cur in Port-of-Spain in the month of Ju­ly.

The Homi­cide Bu­reau is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
