Kadan Jammerson netted twice and Nazism Martinez once Tuesday to give Arima Boys RC a 3-0 win in the semifinal of the Boys’ Under-12 Division in the Ministry of Education’s National Primary Schools Football League when they met arch-rivals San Fernando Boys RC at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.
Arima Boys RC, a multiple-time winner of this title, is eagerly expected to win the title again this season. However, despite the result, rival San Fernando Boys RC did not back down and fought courageously to the end.
Jammerson put the confident Arima Boys RC ahead in the first half. As the battle continued, his teammate Martinez put them further ahead in the 26th minute before Jammerson got his second item of the match to seal the win.
Arima Boys RC will be aiming to win yet another Trinidad title.
The Arima-based team will have to be at its best to get the better of the Port-of-Spain and Environs champion team, the International School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS).
In the other semifinal, ISPS gave Cumana SDA a 7-0 beating at the Arima Velodrome.
As early as the fifth minute of the match, Connor Knaggs put ISPS into the lead with a well-placed right-footer. Two minutes later, Jaxson Rizk gave them a two-goal lead before Knaggs got the other two goals in the first half. The half-time score was 4-0.
In the second session, Cuman SDA lifted their game but ISPS would not back down and increased the lead to five goals to nil when Pernek Walkins scored with a well-placed shot. Then, it was the turn for Jose Soliman to get on the scoresheet after forcing two big saves from the Cumana SDA’s goalkeeper. Soliman raced down the left side and cut inside before hitting with his right foot past the Cumana SDA goalkeeper. In the final three minutes, Rizk got his second with a great right-footer which sailed into the net.
With the Trinidad Leg of the National Primary School Championship, reaching the finals stage on Tuesday when the emphasis will be on the two remaining teams to try to upkeep their tradition or allow a new champion to be crowned.
Semifinal action in the National Primary Schools Football League will continue with the U-15 Boys today and the U-15 Girls tomorrow.
All Trinidad winners will meet their Tobago counterparts for the National Final on November 26 at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex.
