Nu-Iron Unlimited in its continuing interest in the development of youth through education and sports was pleased to be a co-sponsor of a young national boxer, Tianna Guy in her campaign to participate at the 2018 Elite Women's Continental Championships.
The Fine Line Fight Factory based Featherweight pugilist, along with coaches Ria Ramnarine and Bharrath Ramoutar, was given a much-needed boost when Nu-Iron agreed to sponsor the airline tickets to Caracas, where the competition is taking place until September 19th.
The Nu-Iron Team said it was a pleasure to support Guy. They have commented that it was commendable to have such a promising young female boxer and they were quite happy to be part of her journey.
General Manager Jon McCauley presented Guy and her team with the airline tickets at Nu-Iron's Point Lisas offices, and he reiterated that their company will continue to support the youth of T&T and said they are looking forward to the results of the championships.
Coach Ramnarine said that the dedicated boxer had begun preparation right after the CAC games in very early August. "Despite the fact, we had no funding, and we also had to fund our junior female boxer at the same time in a Guyana event, the training remained in full swing. We knocked on several doors, most going unanswered. When Nu-Iron agreed to assist, it was a huge relief. We are most thankful for this meaningful support".
Ramnarine said the Levy cost was also higher than usual and it was a struggle to raise the funds. However, thanks go out to Lifetime Roofing, Build to Last Hardware, Cushionflor Ltd. and Country Bar, as well as a few good samaritans who wished to remain anonymous.
