Opener Rampertab Ramnauth of Guyana and Nathan Sealy of Barbados both scored centuries to help their teams to register victories on the second day of Cricket West Indies Boys’ Under-17 Rising Stars Championship played at three venues on Sunday.
Asked to bat first by Guyana captain Alvin Mohabir at Gilbert Park in Califonia, the host reached 202 for eight with Veeran Batchu scoring 59 off 75 balls with three fours and one six. Team captain Justin Jagessar scored 31 off 51 balls with four fours, while Luke Ali scored 27 off 53 balls with one four and Fareez Ali added 25 from 73 balls with one four.
Golcharran Chulal was Guyana’s best bowler with three for 29 off his ten overs, and Alvin Mohabir took two for 26 from nine overs.
In response, Guyana lost opener Jadon Campbell lbw to Jacen Agard with the second ball of the innings but that was all the luck T&T had as Ramnauth scored 104 off 127 balls with eight fours and two sixes. Mavendra Dindyal returned hurt on 50 off 67 balls with five fours and Zachary Jodan was 36 not out.
At Inshan Ali Park in Couva, Sealy scored an even hundred off 78 balls with three fours and six sixes, while Joshua Dorne contributed 53 off 65 balls with five fours as Barbados bounced back from its eight wicket loss against Guyana on Saturday to defeat Leeward Island by 115 runs.
At the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Jamaica smarting from its six-wicket loss against T&T on Saturday defeated Windward Island by 186 runs of which Brian Barnes scored 88 off 85 balls with six fours and three sixes.
