Open­er Ram­pertab Ram­nauth of Guyana and Nathan Sealy of Bar­ba­dos both scored cen­turies to help their teams to reg­is­ter vic­to­ries on the sec­ond day of Crick­et West In­dies Boys’ Un­der-17 Ris­ing Stars Cham­pi­onship played at three venues on Sun­day.

Asked to bat first by Guyana cap­tain Alvin Mo­hab­ir at Gilbert Park in Cal­i­fo­nia, the host reached 202 for eight with Veer­an Batchu scor­ing 59 off 75 balls with three fours and one six. Team cap­tain Justin Jages­sar scored 31 off 51 balls with four fours, while Luke Ali scored 27 off 53 balls with one four and Fa­reez Ali added 25 from 73 balls with one four.

Golchar­ran Chu­lal was Guyana’s best bowler with three for 29 off his ten overs, and Alvin Mo­hab­ir took two for 26 from nine overs.

In re­sponse, Guyana lost open­er Jadon Camp­bell lbw to Ja­cen Agard with the sec­ond ball of the in­nings but that was all the luck T&T had as Ram­nauth scored 104 off 127 balls with eight fours and two six­es. Maven­dra Dindyal re­turned hurt on 50 off 67 balls with five fours and Zachary Jo­dan was 36 not out.

At In­shan Ali Park in Cou­va, Sealy scored an even hun­dred off 78 balls with three fours and six six­es, while Joshua Dorne con­tributed 53 off 65 balls with five fours as Bar­ba­dos bounced back from its eight wick­et loss against Guyana on Sat­ur­day to de­feat Lee­ward Is­land by 115 runs.

At the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre in Cou­va, Ja­maica smart­ing from its six-wick­et loss against T&T on Sat­ur­day de­feat­ed Wind­ward Is­land by 186 runs of which Bri­an Barnes scored 88 off 85 balls with six fours and three six­es.
