T&T senior men's football team defender Jesse Williams was one of two new signings announced by United Soccer League Championship Division outfit Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old who was recently attached to Northern Ireland's Coleriane FC and 27-year-old forward William Eyang of Cameroon were announced as two more players signed for the upcoming season.
Both Williams, formerly of East Mucurapo Secondary, and Eyang have signed to one-year contracts with a team option for the 2023 season, pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Last summer, Williams made his senior international debut less than a month after his 20th birthday, playing 90 minutes at right back in a 2-0 Concacaf World Cup First Round qualifying win over St Kitts/Nevis.
He made two more appearances for the Soca Warriors at last summer's Concacaf Gold Cup, where he played alongside his new Hounds teammates, both defenders as well, Jelani Peters and Mekeil Williams.
“Jesse is a young player with a high ceiling who we want to develop here in Pittsburgh,” said Hounds coach Bob Lilley said. “He can play as an outside back or defensive midfielder and brings strong ball-winning qualities to our group.”
Williams is currently in Bolivia with the Angus Eve senior national T&T team preparing for a friendly international against that country in Sucre on Friday alongside Mekeil Williams.
