?A 56-year-old Barataria businessman was stabbed to death during what police believe was a robbery at his home between Tuesday night and yesterday morning. Henrick Foster Lewis was found with stab wounds about the body at his business place, located downstairs his home. Officers of the North Eastern Division found the body.
Lewis, who lived at the corner of Third Avenue and Eleventh Street, operated an appliance and cellphone store on the premises. Investigating officers had initially responded to a report that Lewis, a former TSTT employee, had been kidnapped. According to police, around 3 am, a resident saw three men stealing household appliances from Lewis' apartment and raised an alarm.
The men fled in a waiting vehicle, leaving behind thousands of dollars worth of household appliances, including a 38-inch flat screen television set. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found that the door to Lewis' office and storeroom opened and his body on the floor.
An autopsy conducted at the Forensic Science Centre revealed he died from multiple stab wounds to the head, face, chest, neck and upper body. A team of officers from the North Eastern Divisional Task Force headed by Sgt Roger Alexander went in search of a suspect but he could not be found. Officers believe Lewis was working in his office when he was confronted by a robber.
They also believe the he put up a struggle with his assailant. A team of officers led by ASP Williams, Sgts Stewart and Ramjohn, Cpls Hosein and Figaro and PC Mohammed visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
