You've got to give Peter Telfer a medal for tenacity. Peter has held true to his belief in drum and praise and his outfit, called the Mawasi Experience (MXP). Over the years, Mawasi Experience has been raising praise in Catholic churches with their unique sound and songs of worship. Their newly released CD, Kutunza Uhuru (Cherish Experience), marks a milestone for the Mawasi Experience, which has had its share of ups and downs. The group has been held together by Peter, who has more energy than the Energizer Benny, and is composer of the seven creative pieces.
The CD features Peter doing a "panstrumental" and "drumstrumental." Who else but Peter could come up these new words to enhance the musical dictionary.
If the troubles of life get you down, the Mawasi Experience's music can lift your flagging spirit. Some well-known names, like Mark Gabriel, Jaron Forbes, Raymond Edwards, Lydia Ledgerwood, Neon Niles, David Charles, Shem Brewster, Robert Tobitt, Michell Nicholas and the fantastic David Orr are on this CD. Josanne Francis is featured on tenor pan.
It was recorded at Laventille Technology and continuing Education Centre, with Nicholas Noel at the controls. The CD is dedicated to the memory of deceased MXP members Avion Taylor Roach, Adrian Richards and Orlando Mc Intosh.
