Port-of-Spain South MP Marlene McDonald received loud and persistent booing from one long-standing People's National Movement (PNM) supporter Christine "Twiggy" Levia after being screened to recontest her seat. As McDonald descended the stairs outside Balisier House into the building's carpark, Levia began to boo. She was less than 12 feet from McDonald. Her heckles caught the attention of both McDonald and members of her Port-of-Spain South constituency executive as well as the throngs of PNM members who were gathered in the Balisier House carpark. Levia said McDonald was unpopular and that the people supporting her were "a handful of URP and Cepep gangs."
PNM deputy political leader Joan Yuille-Williams went over to Levia and attempted to calm her down. Levia did not stop booing McDonald and opted to raise her voice. As McDonald walked passed Levia, Yuille-Williams grabbed Levia by the hand and tried to pull her one-side, but Levia did not budge nor did she stop booing. McDonald's constituency began clapping and cheering her on but it still did not drown out Levia's boos. When asked about her reaction's to Levia's boos, McDonald said: "By who? By who? Is it a credible source? It is not. It is not." McDonald said her first order of business would be sit with her constituency executive and continue to implement their election strategies.
