Male Mod­el is worth a sec­ond glance for the Maid­en Stakes over sev­en fur­longs at Red­car to­day. Many were im­pressed with his de­but ef­fort. That was 13 days ago, when this Iffraaj colt fin­ished third, beat­en just over a length by Cus­tom House over a smi­lar dis­tance on Kemp­ton poly­track. Be­tween them was odds-on favourite, Buck­land. Male Mod­el was well-backed and looked in need of the ex­pe­ri­ence, ac­cord­ing to pad­dock watch­ers.

A re­pro­duc­tion of that time-hand­i­cap per­for­mance should suf­fice and yet, it stands to rea­son he'll im­prove, per­haps con­sid­er­ably.

It's un­like­ly Male Mod­el will run up against a 'mys­tery' at this North­ern venue. The rest of this eight-race pro­gramme looks dif­fi­cult but Flo­restan's Match should solve the Maid­en stakes over five fur­longs of Kempy­ton poly­track. What beats Ralph Beck­ett's charge will sure­ly win.

Flo­restan's Match was due to run last week, tak­en out but ap­par­ent­ly, there was no se­ri­ous prob­lem and on my time-hand­i­cap, it's just a ques­tion of get­ting a clear run and ac­cel­er­at­ing clear.

Jim Crow­ley is rid­ing with tremen­dous con­fi­dence and I'll bet he gets the job done. Al­so at this evening fix­ture, Touch Tone is nailed each-way for the eight-run­ner, all-aged hand­i­cap over sev­en fur­longs. Three places are a per­fect sit­u­a­tion but make sure all are de­clared to run, be­fore ven­tur­ing forth!
