The 2010 Caribbean Jazz Fusion Concert, the only regional Jazz Concert and workshop spotlighting Caribbean professional musicians and industry associates in the region, takes place on November 28, at the Hyatt Regency, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, at 7 pm. Created by Caribbean musical ambassador Michael Boothman, the 2010 Caribbean Jazz Fusion Concert and Music Workshop will feature performances by Boothman's KysoFusion, and beguine jazz band Makadanm.
The workshop component provides a unique opportunity for accomplished and renowned Caribbean musicians to showcase their offerings and expand their musical and cultural reach in the region and globally. This music–La Beguine Jazz–is deeply rooted in Martiniquan traditions and culture and provides a gateway for, and a means of better understanding the people of Martinique.
Tickets for the Caribbean Jazz Concert are available from Crosby's Records, St James, at a cost of $400 for single tickets, and $700 per couple. All ticket holders will receive a copy of the new Michael Boothman's KaisoFusion CD–Keeping it Fresh. In other jazz news, as a result of the devastation that St Lucia is currently facing brought on by Hurricane Tomas, as well as Boothman's close ties and history with the St Lucia Jazz Festival, part of the proceeds will be donated to the St Lucia recovery effort.
