With a best score of 248 dur­ing the past sea­son, it was hard for any­one to beat Javid Ghany to the top prize of Crick­eter of the Year in the South West Zone.The MYO Sports Club play­er was the toast of the Zone at their awards func­tion held re­cent­ly at the Rousil­lac Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre.

Ghany scored two cen­turies in the Di­vi­sion One com­pe­ti­tion, in­clud­ing the high­est score of the sea­son, 248 against Av­o­cat, and had the high­est ag­gre­gate–582 at an av­er­age of 73.MYO fin­ished third in Di­vi­sion One with OJ's com­ing in sec­ond and Club of the Year, Pro­gres­sive Sports claim­ing the top spot.Pro­gres­sive Sports' Clin­ton Jag­ger­nauth, who was one of the nom­i­nat­ed Five Play­ers of the Year, al­so walked away with a few awards af­ter tak­ing two ten-wick­et hauls dur­ing the sea­son.

He had the most wick­ets–34 for 344 runs at an av­er­age of 10.1.

Pro­gres­sive were the biggest win­ners in the zone, tak­ing home the Jokhan T20 tro­phy, as well as the Mepha/Na­trol 35-over ti­tle. Both com­pe­ti­tions car­ried a first prize of $6,000.
