With a best score of 248 during the past season, it was hard for anyone to beat Javid Ghany to the top prize of Cricketer of the Year in the South West Zone.The MYO Sports Club player was the toast of the Zone at their awards function held recently at the Rousillac Community Centre.
Ghany scored two centuries in the Division One competition, including the highest score of the season, 248 against Avocat, and had the highest aggregate–582 at an average of 73.MYO finished third in Division One with OJ's coming in second and Club of the Year, Progressive Sports claiming the top spot.Progressive Sports' Clinton Jaggernauth, who was one of the nominated Five Players of the Year, also walked away with a few awards after taking two ten-wicket hauls during the season.
He had the most wickets–34 for 344 runs at an average of 10.1.
Progressive were the biggest winners in the zone, taking home the Jokhan T20 trophy, as well as the Mepha/Natrol 35-over title. Both competitions carried a first prize of $6,000.
