All-rounder Bren­don De­larosa was vot­ed Crick­eter of the Year at the Youth Sports Club of Plum Mi­tan prize-giv­ing cer­e­mo­ny last Sat­ur­day. De­larosa scored 476 runs in the North East Zone and al­so claimed 48 wick­ets. Pres­i­dent of the T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB), Az­im Bas­sarath was on hand to de­liv­er the fea­ture ad­dress and praised the club on achiev­ing 52 years of ex­is­tence. "The Hart Trace Plum Mi­tan area, I am sure, has brought much plea­sure, and of course some pain, over the years you have played. If my in­for­ma­tion is cor­rect this par­tic­u­lar club was es­tab­lished about fifty two years ago and you must be con­grat­u­lat­ed. "From my ob­ser­va­tion and from what I have heard and seen, it seems that you have a sol­id foun­da­tion, a sol­id struc­ture and much re­gard for pro­ce­dure and process or you would not have made it so far. I am sure that some per­son­nel in your club would ob­vi­ous­ly have changed from its in­cep­tion to now and so would have in your man­age­ment.

But the club and its struc­ture have re­mained stand­ing and stand­ing strong. A suc­cess­ful his­to­ry, that I dare sug­gest is in­ter­twined with this very place where your func­tion is be­ing held this evening. I feel cer­tain that this venue will con­tin­ue to be very in­flu­en­tial in the sus­te­nance and suc­cess­es of this Youth Sports.

"Ladies and Gen­tle­men, you have a good idea of from where you came. Now you are here cam­paign­ing in the North East Zone of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Crick­et Board Se­nior Di­vi­sion, you are very much a suc­cess sto­ry. "Crick­et is the ve­hi­cle that is be­ing used to trans­port this com­mu­ni­ty in­to homes through­out Trinidad and To­ba­go via the me­dia hous­es." Bas­sarath and fel­low TTCB ex­ec­u­tive mem­bers Patrick Ram­per­sad and Ar­joon Ram­lal were all well re­ceived by the club, as of­fi­cials men­tioned that it is the first time that crick­et board hi­er­ar­chy have vis­it­ed them.
