All-rounder Brendon Delarosa was voted Cricketer of the Year at the Youth Sports Club of Plum Mitan prize-giving ceremony last Saturday. Delarosa scored 476 runs in the North East Zone and also claimed 48 wickets. President of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB), Azim Bassarath was on hand to deliver the feature address and praised the club on achieving 52 years of existence. "The Hart Trace Plum Mitan area, I am sure, has brought much pleasure, and of course some pain, over the years you have played. If my information is correct this particular club was established about fifty two years ago and you must be congratulated. "From my observation and from what I have heard and seen, it seems that you have a solid foundation, a solid structure and much regard for procedure and process or you would not have made it so far. I am sure that some personnel in your club would obviously have changed from its inception to now and so would have in your management.
But the club and its structure have remained standing and standing strong. A successful history, that I dare suggest is intertwined with this very place where your function is being held this evening. I feel certain that this venue will continue to be very influential in the sustenance and successes of this Youth Sports.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, you have a good idea of from where you came. Now you are here campaigning in the North East Zone of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Senior Division, you are very much a success story. "Cricket is the vehicle that is being used to transport this community into homes throughout Trinidad and Tobago via the media houses." Bassarath and fellow TTCB executive members Patrick Rampersad and Arjoon Ramlal were all well received by the club, as officials mentioned that it is the first time that cricket board hierarchy have visited them.
