In ref­er­ence to the let­ter to the ed­i­tor head­lined, Lots to gain from le­gal­is­ing mar­i­jua­na, the writer very well ex­press­es the ben­e­fits in five points: 1) elim­i­nat­ing gang ac­tiv­i­ty; 2) re­duc­ing prison pop­u­la­tion and costs to cit­i­zens/gov­ern­ment; 3) re­duc­ing court con­ges­tion and so al­low­ing courts to deal with re­al crim­i­nals; 4) it will al­low po­lice to deal with re­al crim­i­nals and polic­ing; 5) it will con­sid­er­ably in­crease tax rev­enue.

The writer al­so ex­pressed how oth­er de­vel­oped coun­tries as well as Ja­maica have done it such as through a tick­et­ing sys­tem.

What I re­al­ly al­so want to add is that through the reg­u­lat­ed use of it, un­like al­co­hol which caus­es many road deaths as well as vi­o­lent do­mes­tic abuse sit­u­a­tions, mar­i­jua­na would do the op­po­site and bet­ter, be­cause most of us know it would make most peo­ple more re­laxed, cre­ative and even cure some can­cers.
