President of the National Association of Athletic Administration (NAAA) Ephraim Serrette has earned his first four-year term at the helm of the athletics in T&T.
At yesterday's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election of Officers at the San Fernando Room of the Radisson Hotel on Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, Serrette got the better of his incumbent Fourth vice president Paul Voisin in a keenly contested race 65-32 for the top post.
And afterwards he said he was always confident of winning as the fraternity has seen, and has been satisfied with the work he has done to date as the leader of the organisation.
Among the changes to have taken place under Serrette include the NAAAs being incorporated, major changes to the constitution which sees a 17 member executive being replaced by 11 members and a term limit for executive.
The track and field boss said he will serve only one 4-year term before he calls it a day.
"This term I will put things in place and have succession planning so that someone will take over. I will not be seeking another term in office," Serrette explained soon after his victory.
Also part of the executive will be George Commissiong who prevailed 64-30 over Brent Elder in the race for 1st Vice President and Allan Baboolal who moved from previous position as secretary to defeat Kelvin Sorrillo for 2nd Vice President–49-42.
Meanwhile, Carlene HaynesGriffith will assumed the role of Treasurer after convincingly beating Aisha Martins 54-40, while the hard-working General Secretary Dexter Voisin returned unopposed.
Also being returned unopposed was Assistant Secretary Andre Leung Woo Gabriel. The directors are Dawn Washington, Durly Lucas, Robin Brereton, Lucretia Burns and Ronnell Barcklay.
