This coun­try's Un­der-20 So­ca War­riors suf­fered its first loss in Group A at the 25th Con­ca­caf Un­der-20 Cham­pi­onship when they went un­der to Guatemala 2-0 at the Na­tion­al Sta­di­um in Kingston, Ja­maica yes­ter­day.

Start­ing the day in sec­ond spot with four points from a 2-2 draw with Ja­maica and a 5-1 thump­ing of Aru­ba, the same as Guatemala, the Derek King-coached Un­der-20 T&T squad went be­hind for the first time in the tour­na­ment in the 25th minute when a head­er from Guatemalan Mau­ro Por­tillo went in past goal­keep­er Jo­han Welch off de­fend­er Mar­tieon Wat­son.

De­spite the in­tro­duc­tion of Jabari Mitchell (58th), Akeem Humphrey (58th) and Levi Gar­cia (69th) for the trio of Du­ane Muck­ette, Kevin God­dard and Akeem Gar­cia, T&T failed to get back in­to the con­test and it was Por­tillo, who added a sec­ond for his team with two min­utes left in the match to seal all three points.

With the loss, T&T slipped to third on the ta­ble be­hind Guatemala (sev­en points) and Pana­ma which had max­i­mum six points go­ing in­to its match last night with Ja­maica, which had one point.

In yes­ter­day's oth­er Group A match, the Arubans were hop­ing for their first point when they faced USA, which was al­so com­ing off a loss, 1-0 to Pana­ma.

On Mon­day night in Group B at the Mon­tego Bay Sports Com­plex, Mex­i­co record­ed a 2-0 vic­to­ry over Cana­da to so­lid­i­fy its Group B lead with max­i­mum six points af­ter get­ting goals from Hirv­ing Lozano in the 30th minute and sec­ond-half sub­sti­tute Diego Pine­da in the 92nd. In the two oth­er Group B match­es, Haiti ral­lied for 1-1 draw with El Sal­vador and Hon­duras broke open a score­less stale­mate by strik­ing twice with­in five min­utes in the sec­ond half en route to a 3-0 vic­to­ry over Cu­ba.

A late penal­ty kick by Jonel De­sire (88th minute) hand­ed the Haitians their first point af­ter Jose Villav­i­cen­cio - scor­er of a dra­mat­ic 90th minute equal­iz­er from the penal­ty spot in a 2-2 draw with Hon­duras on Sat­ur­day � put El Sal­vador in front, 1-0, in the 27th minute.

For Hon­duras, Al­berth Elis (60th), John Sua­zo (65th) and Jhow Be­navidez (83rd) tal­lied in the sec­ond-half.

To­day, El Sal­vador and Cana­da meet from 4 pm (TT time) fol­lowed by Mex­i­co against Hon­duras (6.30 pm) and Haitia ver­sus Cu­ba from 9 pm, all at the Mon­tego venue.
