Opening wicket-keeper batsman Aaron Alfred bullied the Queen's Park bowlers yesterday afternoon, hitting 83 to lead Merry Boys to an easy 45-run win in the T&T Cricket Board Premiership T20 competition at the Diego Martin Recreation Ground.
Alfred was ruthless, slamming four fours and six sixes in his 56-ball knock to guide Merry Boys to a competitive 169/5. Alfred's opening partner Mario Belcon also scored a quick 30 (26 balls) at the top of the innings. The opening partnership between Alfred and Belcon was 59, before Belcon was dismissed by Ken Hazel. Hazel was the Parkites best bowler, taking 2/18 in his four overs.
Queen's Park was restricted to 2/2, as Barbadian fast bowler Javon Searles picked up two early wickets. Daron Cruickshank and Sherwin Peters tried their best to rescue the innings, scoring 33 (31 balls) and 27 (27 balls) respectively. Their efforts were not enough as Queen's Park could only muster 118/8. Searles finished with impressive figures of four overs, zero maidens, 11 runs and four wickets.
