Andy Ro­driguez and Isa Miller-Phillips are the new Mr and Miss T&T fol­low­ing com­pe­ti­tion in the Na­tion­al Ju­nior Body Build­ing and Fit­ness Cham­pi­onships held on Sat­ur­day at the Cas­ca­dia Ho­tel and Con­fer­ence Cen­tre in St Ann's, Port-of-Spain.

Pro­duced by the T&T Body Builders and Fit­ness Fed­er­a­tion, the night's com­pe­ti­tion ros­ter al­so fea­tured two new and ex­cit­ing cat­e­gories. They were: Miss Biki­ni Open and Mr Physique.

Car­ciea Samuel rocked the best biki­ni, while Rocky Kew­ley was un­matched in de­f­i­n­i­tion. They cruised away with the re­spec­tive ti­tles.

Ro­driguez, ap­pear­ing be­fore a large and en­thu­si­as­tic au­di­ence, made quick work of his chal­lengers Jerome Mc Dow­ell and Cleon Fish­er in the men's light heavy­weight class.

He re­turned in the men's over­all round of the con­test in which cat­e­go­ry champs Er­rald Thorne, men's light­weight; Waz­im Mo­hammed, men's ban­tam weight; Lin­coln Hone­gan, men's wel­ter­weight; Kirt Ali, men's light mid­dleweight; and Stef­fan Kern Brath­waite men's heavy weight all of whom en­deav­oured to faze him with hope of ul­ti­mate­ly de­feat­ing him.

But Ro­driguez, who seemed clear as to his pur­pose con­tin­ued his ef­fort­less pre­sen­ta­tion of hard­core flex­ing to keep favour with the ad­ju­di­ca­tion pan­el.

Mean­while, Shan­ti Singh and Le­an­der Per­ry, were busy try­ing to squeeze Miller-Phillips out of con­tention for the Miss T&T ti­tle, but failed.

While com­pe­ti­tion in the Miss Biki­ni Open con­test came late on the pro­gramme, it was worth the wait as rep­re­sent­ed by the cheers and an­tics of a to­tal­ly re-en­er­gised au­di­ence. Ten beau­ties took the stage like Vic­to­ria Se­cret mod­els. It was clear that the ad­ju­di­ca­tors had met their most chal­leng­ing field of ath­letes on the night's play­bill.

This was com­mu­ni­cat­ed by the num­bers of sub-group­ing they re­quest­ed of the ath­letes for the pur­pose of mak­ing com­par­isons.

Like the Miss Biki­ni Open seg­ment, the Mr Physique con­test field­ed the night's sec­ond biggest field of ath­letes–nine. This was an­oth­er class that caused the judges to re­quest con­tenders be put in­to sub-sets to bet­ter help them de­ter­mine a win­ner.
