In a move to boost attendance at their matches the Red Steel owners have started a promotion called 'bring a friend' to the cricket. So with the purchase of one ticket for the price of TT$60 you can tag a friend along to view the Red Steel matches at the Queen's Park Oval.
Co-owner of the Red Steel Jon Talarico revealed yesterday that contrary to media reports, the tickets for the matches were not sold out and there were still tickets available for some of the stands. The 'bring a friend' promotion allows you entry into the bleachers that will be mounted where the Dos Santos Stand.
According to Talarico : "We decided to erect the bleachers to get more people to view the games and we are even going further by starting this promotion where when you buy a ticket, you can bring a friend for free."
The bleachers that are in place already will hold 1,000 fans and this will be in an area where there will be accessibility to washrooms and refreshments. The T&T Red Steel will be looking to bounce back after two losses so far in the tournament. They were edged out by the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their first match at Providence and then bowled out for just 52 against the Barbados Tridents, who made heavy weather of the winning target, in losing six wickets before picking up the points.
They have the next three matches at home, including one against the Jamaican Tallawahs that was played last night. They then play against Guyana Amazon Warriors tomorrow, before closing off their home campaign against the Antigua Billhawks on Sunday.
The Red Steel then hits the road again next week when they visit Jamaica to play the Tallawahs and also entertain St Lucia Zouks in their neutral venue clash.
