Trend-setting Carnival bandleader Michael Headley, now retired from mas, is making a mas on the island's North Coast at his idyllic Playa del Este Resort in Salybia. Having developed the site into a thing of beauty, Headley continues to add even more attractions to the premises, the latest being a selection of hand-picked bands to perform at the venue. Said Headley, who now refers to himself as Senor Miguel Fidel Cabezamenet, the week after Carnival: "I am providing Trinbagonians, and visitors to our shores, with a special all-inclusive experience, unlike any other, anywhere else on the planet, every first Saturday, of every month in the year. I will be hiring bands with good brass and bass, playing danceable music, not like what exists as music these days. "I am allowing guests and patrons the choice of sipping exotic cocktails, laying back in a hammock or jacuzzi overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, or to release themselves while enjoying the musical vibrations from my private and cherished collection."
Reminiscing on music played at one time by Joey Lewis, Dutchy Bros, Pete de Vlught, Mano Marcellin and Clarence Curvan, Headley refers to most of today's music as "BL.A.BL music" ('Bass Less and Brass Less') Headley added: "What I am providing is an experience outside of the Carnival that will give visitors a taste of Trini culture featuring World Music, as well as the best of local cuisine, including indigenous fare like bhuljol, choka, bake, toolum, phulourie, sugar cake, saheena, pone, chilli bibbi, sugar cake, fudge, and sno-cone, every month." The seasoned party promoter promised to also include his brand of music at his popular Carnival Sunday Dancing in the Sanctuary "ultra-inclusive"?party, held at Windsor Road, Valsayn, and scheduled for February 10, 2013.
