The organising committee of the Tour of T&T Independence Cycle Classic will be paying tribute to past icons in cycling by naming each of its ten stages after a former hero. The fourth edition of the tour is sanctioned by the T&T Cycling Federation (TTCF), and has been revived by former national cyclist, Anthony "Bike Doctor" Commission, in order to join the celebrations of T&T's 50 years of independence and is set to pedal off from August 19 to September 2012. The race is entitled "The Unity Race" and is the biggest road cycling event in the Caribbean since it features 12 stages. As such, it has already been dubbed the "Tour de France of the Caribbean." Some 600 cyclists from all over the region and the world are expected to turn out for the event.
