Wayne Thomas of St Augustine was the top participant at the recent referees recruitment course conducted in Trinidad by the T&T Football Federation at the St Augustine Secondary School and Marabella Secondary School. The course commenced on August 6 and and continued on August 7, 13 and 14 with the closing ceremony and awards function on August 20 at St Augustine. Thomas of the St Augustine group amassed a score of 90 per cent while Daniel Wilfred Ramsook (Marabella group) - 88 per cent among was second best among the men. Annalise Wallace (St Augustine group) and Charisse Noel (Marabella group), both with 83 per cent were the top women participants.
The course included field training at the St Augustine and Marabella Secondary Schools by facilitators Lee Davis, Ainsley Rochard, Neal Brizan and Dion Niel, while at Marabella, the facilitators were Michael Ragoonath and Jaggernath Goolcharan. The course co-ordinators were Neville Ferguson (St Augustine) and Michael Ragoonath (Marabella). Former FIFA referee Jaggernath Goolcharan, former FIFA assistant referees Ragoonath and Lynda Bramble-Thompson; and Krishendath Kuarsingh, were the instructors.
Overall there were 103 participants, 89 of which were examined. Eighty-one of those examined were successful while 14 were not examined. Several persons who were not examined had other commitments and were unable to write the examination on the specific day. However, arrangements are being made for some of these persons to write the examination.
