Wayne Thomas of St Au­gus­tine was the top par­tic­i­pant at the re­cent ref­er­ees re­cruit­ment course con­duct­ed in Trinidad by the T&T Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion at the St Au­gus­tine Sec­ondary School and Mara­bel­la Sec­ondary School. The course com­menced on Au­gust 6 and and con­tin­ued on Au­gust 7, 13 and 14 with the clos­ing cer­e­mo­ny and awards func­tion on Au­gust 20 at St Au­gus­tine. Thomas of the St Au­gus­tine group amassed a score of 90 per cent while Daniel Wil­fred Ram­sook (Mara­bel­la group) - 88 per cent among was sec­ond best among the men. An­nalise Wal­lace (St Au­gus­tine group) and Charisse Noel (Mara­bel­la group), both with 83 per cent were the top women par­tic­i­pants.

The course in­clud­ed field train­ing at the St Au­gus­tine and Mara­bel­la Sec­ondary Schools by fa­cil­i­ta­tors Lee Davis, Ains­ley Rochard, Neal Brizan and Dion Niel, while at Mara­bel­la, the fa­cil­i­ta­tors were Michael Ra­goonath and Jag­ger­nath Goolcha­ran. The course co-or­di­na­tors were Neville Fer­gu­son (St Au­gus­tine) and Michael Ra­goonath (Mara­bel­la). For­mer FI­FA ref­er­ee Jag­ger­nath Goolcha­ran, for­mer FI­FA as­sis­tant ref­er­ees Ra­goonath and Lyn­da Bram­ble-Thomp­son; and Kr­ishen­dath Kuars­ingh, were the in­struc­tors.

Over­all there were 103 par­tic­i­pants, 89 of which were ex­am­ined. Eighty-one of those ex­am­ined were suc­cess­ful while 14 were not ex­am­ined. Sev­er­al per­sons who were not ex­am­ined had oth­er com­mit­ments and were un­able to write the ex­am­i­na­tion on the spe­cif­ic day. How­ev­er, arrange­ments are be­ing made for some of these per­sons to write the ex­am­i­na­tion.
