Despite the dark cloud that continues to loom over the globe due to COVID-19 and more so the Omicron variant, a bright star shone at Flaming Word Cathedral bringing in the sweet spirit of Christmas.
Reverend Eden Rosal, who has been coordinating the ministry’s annual Christmas on the Promenade for the last 12 years, felt that even though restrictions and limitations are a much needed and necessary approach to fighting this pandemic, as a people we must find creative, safe and healthy workable ways to bring hope, happiness, joy and laughter to our fellowmen so as to motivate and navigate the human spirit throughout this challenging period.
Observing all COVID-19 protocols, the ministry partnered with the Lions Club of Chaguanas to host a small-scaled version of the event so as to keep the spirit of Christmas alive among the children.
Leanne Mohammed, one of the lead vocalists of Flaming Word Cathedral and seven-year-old Kaydon Hart entertained the children with Christmas carols. The children’s faces were filled with delight and joy as Santa Claus arrived with their gifts. Santa’s beautiful elves distributed goodie bags and other wonderful treats to the excited children.
Dr Dave Alleyne, Bishop, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Flaming Word Cathedral, expressed his belief that the human spirit is more resilient than COVID-19 and its variants and will eventually defeat and get rid of this pandemic in the shortest time possible.
Parents praised organizers Reverend Eden Rosal, Project Coordinator of Flaming Word Cathedral, Intekab Ali, President of Lions Club, Chaguanas and sponsors Bredesh Nanan, owner of Bredesh Best Price Supermarkets (with outlets nationwide) and KFC in bringing a ray of hope to our children.
