Southex Mul­ti­me­dia Pro­duc­tions (SMP) and Nah! Spe­cial re­cent­ly joined forces with Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Mooni­lal, the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty and 11 chut­ney so­ca per­form­ers to send a spe­cial In­de­pen­dence COVID-19 mes­sage to T&T.

The artistes in­volved in the ini­tia­tive in­clud­ed reign­ing Queen of Chut­ney So­ca Nisha Ram­sook, three-time monarch Ravi B, co­me­di­an Ken­neth Su­per­sad, Mas­ter Saleem, Vee­jai Ramkissoon, Adesh Sama­roo, Savi­ta Singh, Rawj­tee Ram­roop; Li­onel Jagge­sar Jr, Prashaant Ram­dass and Leeann Dass.

SMP CEO George Singh, the in­tent was to use mu­sic and dra­ma to en­cour­age peo­ple to get vac­ci­nat­ed.

“Con­tent is de­lib­er­ate­ly very sim­ple, clean and to the point, and be­cause the prod­uct caters to all. Even the bit of hu­mour in the dra­ma un­der­pins the ex­treme­ly se­ri­ous mes­sage to get vac­ci­nat­ed. While the mes­sage tar­gets T&T, es­pe­cial­ly dur­ing this sig­nif­i­cant time, In­de­pen­dence, it al­so caters to the wider world,” he ex­plained.

The Let’s Get Vac­ci­nat­ed mu­sic video was re­leased on Au­gust 27 on Face­book, In­sta­gram, Youtube and Tik Tok.

By mid­day on Au­gust 29, the video had been viewed ap­prox­i­mate­ly 200,000 times, Singh said.

The video be­gins with a Nah! Let’s Get Vac­ci­nat­ed Spe­cial tele­vi­sion news­cast with Su­per­sad in the role of an­chor.

He starts on a light note: “There’s a joke about the coro­n­avirus, but ah cyah say, be­cause ah doh want to spread it. Ah keep hear­ing about cas­es and cas­es... but it have noth­ing to do with beer. The 2022 cal­en­dar came out to­day. If you plan on get­ting one, I sug­gest you take the vac­cine now.”

Break­ing for weath­er, ac­tress Dass fore­casts: “…It will be a bright and sun­ny week­end, so go get vac­ci­nat­ed. Don’t be scared as the nee­dle isn’t all that long...”

The an­chor re­turns to say: “The vac­cine is very im­por­tant to take. Do not pay at­ten­tion to mis­in­for­ma­tion. Let’s put your life and the life of your fam­i­ly and friends first. Let’s do our part to save the hu­man race. Get­ting vac­ci­nat­ed is the on­ly way.”

Each singer then shares a mes­sage about the im­por­tance of get­ting vac­ci­nat­ed.

The cho­rus is:

“Do not sit down and wait

Do not hes­i­tate

Take it now be­fore it’s too late.”

The video ends with a mes­sage from MP Mooni­lal.
