D ance has taken the spotlight at Divali Nagar celebrations over the past few days.
Visitors to the Nagar in Chaguanas saw performances from several local dance groups, including the Shiv Shakti Dance Company; Amritam Shakti Dance Group; SK Dance Academy; Nritanjali Theatre For the Arts & Culture and the Radha Krishna Dancers.
The costumes, stage lighting and the musical accompaniment all blended well to enhance the performances.
National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC) second vice-president Surujdeo Mangroo said local artistes are being showcased this year at the event.
He said, “We have a lot of talent in T&T and I believe that we are on par with foreign artistes. So, we at the NCIC, are giving that much needed push to our artistes, especially our youth, so they can develop with each passing season.”
