On November 9, Star Wars enthusiasts — and even those who may have missed the original magic but still yearn to experience it — are invited to gather at Arnim’s Art Galleria, 27 Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain, for a truly rare, one-day celebration of the beloved intergalactic saga.
The event, themed “Forever Star Wars,” runs from 10 am to 4 pm and promises a galaxy of fun, including trivia games, memorabilia sales, costume prizes, and giveaways — all designed to create an unforgettable day for fans of every generation.
“This event may not be the largest exhibition,” says Justice Gillian Lucky, a passionate Star Wars collector and the driving force behind the showcase. “But it marks a significant step towards uniting fans who share a love for this legendary saga. May the Force be with you.”
Lucky’s fascination with Star Wars began in 1977, when, at just ten years old, she watched Star Wars: A New Hope, the first film of the original trilogy. Captivated by its thrilling adventure and powerful message that good must triumph over evil, she began collecting action figures and memorabilia — a tradition that would become a lifelong passion.
“The timeless themes of hope, justice, and the struggle against darkness resonated deeply with me,” Lucky recalls. “They not only inspired my collection but also shaped my sense of identity as part of a larger community.”
To Lucky, Star Wars represents more than a cinematic phenomenon — it’s a moral compass and a reflection of shared human values.
“Star Wars is more than just a franchise; it’s a celebration of camaraderie and shared values. The stories remind us of the importance of standing up for what is right and maintaining integrity in a world often clouded by selfish ambition and greed. The various collectables I’ve amassed over the decades serve as tangible reminders of our desire to emulate heroes, while resisting the lure of power and corruption represented by the villains,” she says.
Now, after decades of curating her collection “with love and care,” Lucky has made the emotional decision to part with some of her prized pieces. Her goal, she explains, is to pass on the joy and inspiration that these treasures embody.
“I hope they find new homes with fellow fans who can appreciate and cherish them just as I have,” she says. “This exhibition is an invitation for all Star Wars fans to converge and celebrate — not just the collectables, but the connections forged within this vibrant community.”
As the Force continues to inspire new generations, Lucky hopes the values that first moved her as a young girl will live on in others.
“May we always honour the lessons of hope, courage, and integrity that Star Wars teaches — and keep the Force alive within our communities.”
