The Form Two year group of Bish­op Anstey High School East in Trinci­ty host­ed the first Cake Pic­nic on March 23 with a va­ri­ety of ar­ti­san cakes in a num­ber of flavours, in­clud­ing Boston Cream, Mar­ble, Red Vel­vet, Lemon Blue­ber­ry, to name a few, on dis­play.

Stu­dents were al­lowed to sam­ple the cakes of their choos­ing. But the event trans­formed in­to a Willy Won­ka-in­spired fairy­tale af­fair, filled with colour and cre­ativ­i­ty, show­cas­ing the school spir­it and ca­ma­raderie, of­fer­ing stu­dents a joy­ful es­cape from aca­d­e­m­ic rou­tines while nur­tur­ing their men­tal well-be­ing and so­cial growth. An im­promp­tu fash­ion show un­fold­ed, with stu­dents con­fi­dent­ly show­ing off their styl­ish out­fits, while a live­ly con­ga line weaved its way through the space, draw­ing every­one in­to the rhythm of the mo­ment.

The school’s Dean, Can­dice Ja­gan-Spicer, ex­tend­ed heart­felt thanks to par­ents for their con­tin­ued sup­port and to teach­ers for their un­wa­ver­ing ded­i­ca­tion. She praised the col­lec­tive spir­it that made the Cake Pic­nic a suc­cess and ex­pressed her en­thu­si­asm for host­ing the event again next year, promis­ing an even big­ger, more en­joy­able, and mem­o­rable ex­pe­ri­ence for all.—Roger Ja­cob
